Why Decon?

During a fire, firefighters are exposed to many contaminants, toxins, and hazardous materials. In turn, studies have shown there is a trend in an increased risk of cancer and other serious diseases.

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) performed two large studies focused on firefighter cancer and concluded that "firefighters face a 9% increase in cancer diagnoses, and a 14% increase in cancer-related deaths, compared to the general population in the U.S."

According to the International Association Of Firefighters, at the 2022 IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial, almost 75% of the names added to the wall (348 out of 469) were members who had died from occupational cancer."

These statistics are haunting!

It is crucial to start a decontamination process as soon as possible to try and avoid these risks. This means removing as many of the toxins and chemicals as possible.

There are multiple steps taken to achieve this and our soap is one of the solutions. Our goal was to create a product that destroys harmful contaminants and keep as many firefighters safe as possible.

We achieve this by using quality ingredients designed to detox the skin and promote healing.

According to the IAFF "recent studies using PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) as a measurement of contamination found that wet-soap gross contamination is most effective. In fact, it was able to remove 85% of the contaminate: dry brushing removes only 23%."

This is why we are proud to have a product that can help the fire service that we are happy to be a part of!

*Disclaimer: Ignite does not prevent or cure cancer, it is used for decontamination purposes to draw out toxins and other contaminants.
